課程概述

This course is designed to introduce students 1) to understand the principles of catalytic functions, 2) to get familiar with the industrial or practical applications of catalysis, 3) to know new development in the catalysis and 4) to become in this fascinating field of chemical science and technology for his or her future profession. 

課程目標
本課程的目的在介紹給學生
(1)瞭解觸媒的作用原理
(2)掌握工業觸媒的實際應用
(3)熟悉觸媒的新發展
(4)培養對觸媒的興趣

  Introduction 2: The illustration of catalyst applications, included heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis and bio-catalysis in chemical industry. The new challenge of the catalysis in the future.

  Photocatalysis: Recent developments of catalysis in photocatalysis for environmental abatement

  Catalysis for energy conversion: Catalytic combustion and hydrogen in energy developments 
第5週
  Adsorption and surface reactivity: The basis of catalytic function, the Langmuir adsorption in the chemical reactions and their significance in the catalytic applications.

  Preparations of Catalysts: -Three basic methods and some special methods of catalyst preparation 
第7週
  Supported metal catalysts: The concept of active sites, surface structure and their significance in the direction of a catalytic reaction will be emphasized. The uses of supported metal catalysts for energy and environmental purposes will be presented.

  Catalytic kinetics and their models: Langmuir-Hinshelwood and Rideal models in chemical reactions, and their kinetics

  Characterization: TThe common characterization techniques including FTIR, UV-vis, XRD, XPS, XAS, EXAFS, TPD and TGA

  Solid acid catalysts: The origin of catalytic acidity and their uses in the conversion of petroleum oil and petrochemicals.
